Drug Uses
Doxycycline is used for the treatment of bacterial infections. It is also given for preventing or slowing down the progress of anthrax after exposure.

How Taken
Take Doxycycline only as per the doctor’s direction. You get the best results if the drug is used at the same time every day and if you complete the full course.

Missed Dose
It is better not to take double dosage. If a dose is missed, take it if you remember it in time. Or just skip it if it is time for the next dosage.

Warnings/Precautions
You have to tell your doctor everything about your medical history before taking Doxycycline. Tell him if you are prone to allergies to a particular food, medicine or any other substance.
If you have stomach/intestinal infection, you have to tell the doctor. If pregnant or planning to get pregnant better inform the physician as the drug is found to affect the fetus. While breast-feeding, do no take Doxycycline as it has been traced in breast milk.
Well, you should also discuss with the doctor all the medicines that you take as some may interact with the drug. If you are taking penicillin or acitretin, do not use Doxycycline.
It has also been found that repeated use of Doxycycline can cause second infection. Intimate the doctor if you come across any sign of second infection. You should have to immediately consult the doctor if you experience stomach pain/cramps, diarrhea and bloody stools. Doxycycline is also found to be more sensitive to sun and as such avoid sun, sunlamps and tanning booths. When using
Doxycycline, birth control pills will not work well. The drug should no be given to children below 8 years old.
